Below are some frequently asked questions about what I do as a coach and how I work with clients. If you have more questions, please feel free to get in touch with me.

What is coaching?

Coaching is a highly collaborative process in which you and I work together to design a life that aligns your values with your actions.

As your coach I…

  • synthesize and mirror your thoughts and ideas for you to examine

  • stand by your side while you identify and navigate obstacles limiting your success

  • hold you accountable to your commitments and goals

Is coaching for me?

Coaching is for individuals who are…

  • open to creating change in their lives

  • feeling stuck or trapped in a life path that is not serving their needs

  • willing and ready to dedicate time, energy, and financial resources towards personal growth

What does the coaching process look like?

Coaching can be broken down into a 4-phase process:

  1. Researching: Clarifying your values and identifying your strengths

  2. Synthesizing: Highlighting themes and trends that light you up

  3. Prototyping: Developing different lives to test-drive

  4. Refining: Honing in on one or two life directions to explore in more depth

What do we talk about in coaching?

The framework of coaching can apply to many areas of life. Below are some common topics clients come to me for coaching:

  • career development

  • life balance

  • life transitions

What differentiates coaching from consulting, counseling, and therapy?

Coaching, consulting, therapy, and counseling are four different services.

Coaching is about seeing where you currently are and utilizing your innate strengths, motivations, and values to move you towards your goals. Coaching is not about giving you a diagnosis, labeling you with a pathology, teaching you the correct way to accomplish a goal, giving advice, or giving you the answers. The coach and client are seen as equal partners. As a coach, I am not the expert on your life, you are. Through powerful questioning I help you find your own answers by drawing on your own resourcefulness and creativity. Also, coaching does not focus on past events.

What does a coaching session look like?

Coaching sessions are non-judgmental conversations in which we discuss your goals, your vision, areas of your life where you feel stuck, and strategies for overcoming obstacles. Sessions with me last approximately one hour and can be done in person, on the phone, or via Skype. As the coach, I use powerful questioning, deep listening, and curiosity to navigate your unique goals and agenda. As the client, you bring and set the agenda for each session. During each session, we will check in on inquiry questions or action steps defined in the previous week, celebrate accomplishments, and examine any obstacles that may have come
